IOHA 3-Hour In-Lab Respiratory & Digestive Systems Anatomy Workshop

August 19, 2026 | 6:00-8:00 PM

Join our immersive 2-hour, in-person workshop designed to deepen your understanding of two of the body's most essential systems: the respiratory and digestive systems. This hands-on session uses cadaveric specimens to provide a practical, in-depth exploration of the anatomy and function of the respiratory and digestive systems, from the movement of air through the lungs to the processing of food through the gastrointestinal tract. Gain evidence-based anatomical insights you can apply directly to your practice, your studies, or your personal understanding of the human body.

Youโ€™ll Learn:

โœ… The anatomy of the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs, and how each structure contributes to the movement of air through the body

โœ… How pulmonary ventilation works, including the mechanics of breathing and the role of lung volumes and capacities in respiratory function

โœ… How oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged and transported between the lungs, blood, and body tissues

โœ… The organization of the digestive system, including the layers of the GI tract and how its structures work together to process food from ingestion to elimination

โœ… The anatomy and function of the major digestive organs, including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine

โœ… The role of accessory digestive organs, including the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder, in supporting digestion and metabolism

โœ… Hands-on anatomy using real cadaver specimens, guided by an expert instructor

This workshop is ideal for massage therapists, fitness and movement professionals, nursing and pre-med students, health and wellness practitioners, and anyone with a serious curiosity about how the human body is truly built.

Licensed Massage Therapist

โ€œTo be able to see the inside of body systems and receive an in-depth explanation of how they work has truly enhanced my ability to deliver better massage treatments. Understanding how and why these systems function the way they do also helps me ask more informed questions of my medical team.โ€

Jordan

โ€œIโ€™ve studied anatomy before, but this experience connected the dots in a way nothing else has. Seeing real structures explained step-by-step made everything click. It changed the way I think about the body and deepened my appreciation for how precisely everything works together.โ€
